The Extended Pentagram

The geometry of how to construct the Extended Pentagram using just compass, straight edge and pencil is in the footnotes.

I first saw the idea in David Wood's GENISIS, 1985.  Only by use of a regular 15-sided polygon can you construct this "Isis" (he called it) shape.  And there was further the claim that this Isis/Extended Pentagram was unique to Rennes-le-Chateau.  Both claims turned out to be wrong:

See above the "unique" Wood and Wood-Campbell's (GENESET, 1994) yellow-orange Isis/Extended Pentagram and Star Union (of Extended Pentagram and Hexagram).  But there is his Isis inverted on the 1909 Rider-Waite Tarot XV -15.  And it's on the  Rettich-on-Steiner (right border) and on the C20th Steiner Malsch temple ceiling.  Notice also the similarity between Tarot XV and Fuseli's Titania, Bottom, and the Fairies, 1793-944, below, including what is possibly the underlaying geometry of the Fuseli itself (noting the male and female on both Tarot XV and the Fuseli):

Note:  15 is sometimes connected to 666 (via the reciprocal 1/15 = 0.0666r

To business: a river runs through it ...

The tale of LLUDD AND LLEFELYS tells of 2 dragons fighting: a white one and a red one.  The red dragon is Wales, with the River Severn its natural frontier. We can also read of a red dragon in the Biblical REVELATION of St. John (Rev. 12,3).  This dragon is called a serpent (Rev. 12,9) and and a flood of water gushes from its mouth (Rev. 12,15).  There is mention of a woman with a crown of twelve stars "upon her head" (Rev. 12, 1-2).   There is a bright and morning star (Rev. 2,29; 22, 16), a pure river of the water of life (Rev. 22, 1), and, of course, Wormwood (Rev. 8,11).

There is also reference to "a reed like unto a rod" for measuring (Rev. 11,1).  In England, a rod/pole/perch is 198".  Our Perpetual Choir circle (CPC) circumference will be 2 X 198 = 396.  We also meet the numbers 1260 (Rev. 11,3; 12,6), 144 (21,17), 144000 (Rev. 7,4; 14,3) and 666 (Rev. 13,18)*.  Our CPC's diameter will be 126, the decagon within it having corners/vertices of 144 degrees - and then there is "the number of the beast", 666**, sum 1-36 inclusive, where 36 is another such decagon angle (360/10).

There is a war raging in heaven (Rev. 12,7), and the dragon/serpent gets sent/banished/falls to earth from heaven (Rev. 12,9; 12,13).

* a coincidental curiosity here being 13 X 18 = 234, which, + mirror (and "sun" number) 432, = another "sun" number, 666.
** Frank C Higgins, 1916, Beginning of Masonry P.36 (?mistakenly) writes: "Multiplying each of the first 8 digits by 9 gives us 18 .... 81, the sum of which is 396, a number greatly reverenced by ancient mystics because ... added to the period of gestation in days (270) it produced the sacred 666."  Why do I ask  ?mistakenly? The first 8 digits are 1-8, not 2-9.  Or am I mistaken? Is the monad excluded from "the first eight digits"?

We're turning to classical geometry - compass, pencil, straight edge stuff.    Both a hexagon and a pentagon can be created using this and both can be re-expressed as stars (just depends which corners you join to which), namely pentagrams and hexagrams.  And the same geometry can produce both together - as is (partly) illustrated in the diagram at the top. A hexagon is - to some - a solar symbol: "the number of the sun is said to be 6 or 666" https://itssinstupid.tripod.com/ESOTERIC.HTM  The hexagram chord (and equilateral side) indicates a Star of David/Seal of Solomon* construct whilst the pentagon side indicates a possible 5 point pentagram/pentacle construction.  These - and the decagon side indicated - are all derived by basic vesica piscis (overlapping circles) construction.  HO and IO (top right diag.), if joined up, would be pentagram chords.

* I note the Seal of Solomon is given as both 5 and 6 cornered.

The body of our "Isis" (as "she" was christened by David Wood in GENISIS) will largely be in the hexagon-producing circle (the larger one centred B), and its vesica piscis (with points C-A-D-B-C) shared with the circle centred A.  In REVELATION, the lady is "clothed with the sun" (Rev. 12,1).  The only part - other than the legs - not so contained, is where-the-lady's-legs-meet (near the River Severn and Cun/Cune Hill, now Queenhill, River Severn).

Then there is "I am Alpha and Omega" (Rev. 1,8; 1,11; 22,13  ... 1,17  - first and last).  The Star Union geometry above (of pentagon and hexagon combined) creates both the pentalpha and the omega by construction, and I note that a hexagram, itself, comprises the alchemical symbols for water (triangle pointing down) with fire (triangle pointing up) - and we will meet with Water and Fire as the Sts John of Jerusalem Midsummer and Midwinter festivals, Baptist and Evangelist.*

* Put another way, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.  These are at approximately latitude 23.5 degrees from the equator.  This is also a number associated with the tilt of the Earth's axis.

Within our geometry, applied on an Ordnance Survey map, the very shape of the River Severn is serpentine, starting as it does not too far from a decagon vertex, then flowing round our model's centre, between Queenhill (Cun Hill - think Mons Veneris/Pubis, "Hill/Mound of Venus", here, perhaps, anatomically) and nearby Towbury (where her legs actually meet), and on, before finally leaving the model at/near the river's mouth, twixt two more decagon vertices at Glastonbury and (near) Llantwit Major, and by the "virgin" latitude of 360/7 (aka "pathenos", 51.4-51.5).  The path of the river follows the extended pentagram construction all the way from Towbury to the mouth of the river.  And, what's more, the river, within the decagon circle, outlines a foetal appearance - and the Revelation woman is "with child" (Rev. 12,2).

Then, lastly, there is the quite remarkable phonetic similarity between the Greek he phren (gematria 666/lower mind/mind below - implying one above) and Hafren, the River Severn.  Then there is the iffy-maths-based 6.66 mile difference between 396 CPC circumference and its "canonical" 389.34 decagon perimeter (See Rev. 13, 18). We will also find reference to a river (Severn) of pure water (Glosgii iis, c/o Timbs - see Rev. 22,1). We will find a Welsh wormwood (Llwynywormwood - see Rev. 8. 11 and the diagram above!),  and we have already created the geometry for a morning star (and evening star) above: the Lucifer/Venus pentagrams, reflecting what the planet does over a 40 year cycle, and aka Lady and Goat - Rev. 2, 29 (noting the star that fell from heaven to earth - see Rev. 8,10; 9,1).  And, lastly, of course, (but far from least!) there's the Severn bore - and we read of a flood of water "cast out" from its mouth.  (See Rev. 12, 15).

These are the Extended Pentagram and Star Union of David Wood's GENISIS and Wood-Campbell GENESET - their "Isis" woman (with her head surrounded by 6 - and easily 12 - hexagon/hexagram corners/vertices.  In the model above, Point J will be at the centre of a circle of twelve stone circles in Wales (according to Linda Dearden), one of which being Gors Fawr.  Nearby is John Nash's Temple Druid.   https://insearchofholywellsandhealingsprings.com/source-first-series-contents/st-teilo-and-two-wells-in-west-wales/

Remember the REVELATION woman with the twelve stars round her head (12, 1-2), facing the red dragon?  Here is the River Severn.  St. John the Evangelist was known as "the eagle that soars" and we see the Pembrokeshire eagle atop the county crest  and the Welsh red dragon (2., incidentally, is Llwynywormwood and 1. is Raggedstone Hill, by Whiteleaved Oak).  I notice we are looking west, towards the traditional Autumnal "Royal Watcher"  placing of Antares (in Sirius).  Sirius is astrologically denoted by both serpent (dragon) and eagle.

The Phi Chalice/Snake-in-a-cup

Using one of our  pentagams (see below - Lady and Goat), here is the River Severn:

St. John the Evangelist is a snake-in-a-cup (you can't see it very well on the left - much better on the right - but there's a snake/dragon in that chalice in his right hand).  Note the Severn's shape and see how it drops into one of our pentagrams expressed as a "phi" chalice made possible by the Michell Circle of Perpatual Choirs idea.  Back in the 16-17th Century AD, the River Severn at Gloucester was considered (by William Campden) to be a river "of pure waters" (to the Britons).  According to the antiquarian John Timbs, ABBEYS, CASTLES AND ANCIENT HALLS (1869), that is - Glosgii iis.  I, myself, can't find the reference anywhere in Camden's  BRITANNIA - but Timbs seems a credible  source.  The only internet search results on this that come up seem to originate from me, though!

St. John the Evangelist, meanwhile, is one of the 2 Sts John of Jerusalem, and almost a calendar mirror of the Baptist and Jesus.  The Freemasons have two pillars on the way in/out, B and J.  The Evangelist is thought by some to be the same St John as the one  who wrote the BOOK OF  REVELATION.

Notes on Parthenos

The "Llantwit" vertex evokes a St. Eurgain (the virgin). Her supposed foundation is associated (by some) with Caer Mead, Llantwit Major, Wales grid reference SS959700: celticsaints.org

And then we have Sabrina, drowned in the Severn.  From Milton's “COMUS”:
(c/o Edmund Spenser, and Geoffrey of Monmouth's "Sabre" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafren):

SPIRIT.—There is a gentle nymph not far from hence
That with moist curb sways the smooth Severn stream.
Sabrina is her name, a virgin pure;

Virgin. The Greek is parthenos. Its gematria value is 514-515. So are we the latitude area of the Mouth of the Severn (in some versions), 51.4-51.5?  These days the "mouth" is normally a line from Lavernock Point (Wales) to Sand Point (England). Lavernock Point is Lat. 51.404221.  So 3 virgins.*

7, of course, is said to be the virgin number. That is because it does not divide perfectly into 360 (unlike 1,2,3,4,5,6,8 and 9).  Also note it falls - as a latitude - in the range 51.4-51.5 (51.42857 ... the latitude of Avebury).  The proposed Glamorgan decagon vertex (near Nash) latitude is 51.444058.  St. Eurgain the Virgin's Caer Mead is on Lat. 51.4192.

* Noting the actual latitude where the Severn/Bristol Channel leaves the decagon is nearer 51.3.
** Of course, with all these angles - let alone Earth latitudes - you necessarily need to have have determined the Earth is not flat but (oblate) spherical, need to have invented 360 degrees for a circle (as against any other similarly arbitrary number) and have developed precise instrumentation for taking measurements.  So C18th-C19th minimum?

The Perpetual Choirs of Britain - He Phren

He Phren means lower mind/mind below. In gematria, its value is 666. The term is strikingly similar to a Welsh name for the River Severn: Hafren.  He Phren implies the existence of an upper mind/mind above. That would be noos. Now that's a word we use today - nous - as intellect/common sense.

666 is sometimes associated (wrongly) with the reciprocal of 15 as .0666r (note Devil Card, Tarot XV). It is also close to the Cancer and Capricorn latitudes of 90 - 66.5 = 23.5 (remembering mention of this number previously, where 90 - 23.43677 = 66.56  ... rounds to 66.6).

St. Teilo and Two Wells ...

We turn our attention to Linda Dearden, 1989:

"The whole area surrounding this well is particularly powerful. Standing as it does half a mile from Temple Druid and the nearby stone circle at Gors Fawr, which is all that remains of a giant circle containing within it twelve circles. Towering above Gors Fawr is the mountain Bed Arthur with its great Warrior Stone."

There is no provenance whatsoever I can find for the idea of a "giant circle" of 12 sites like (and including) Gors Fawr, but our next site is nearby these:

SN096272 Temple Druid (with the Melchior/Prisk Farm holy well nearby)
SN135294 Gors Fawr stone circle
SN142266 Meini Gwyr stone circle (remains of).  It was sketched by William Stukeley:

SN123279 is our site, on the Raggedstone Hill-Point St. John axis @ 101.934 miles. r + phi r.
It is somewhat central to the other 3 (above).  On an OS map:

The centre of that vesica piscis/hexagram chord is very close to Offa's Dyke.  Just off, in fact - SO255337: https://gridreferencefinder.com/osfs/?gr=SO2550033700|SO255337|1&v=r

Notes:

**Lady and Goat (mirrors)

Looked at one way, there's a woman/lady with a head, arms and legs. Turn it through 180 degrees, however, and it's a goat, with horns, ears and beard. It's Venus and Lucifer, the "horned" Morning and Evening star. Lucifer is "the shining one".

Now Lucifer had an emerald - a precious gem - where his "horns" meet (as illustrated). In some versions it  became the Holy Grail, a bowl, after it fell from his crown.  Spin his pentagram round and it's where her legs meet - noting the goddess Venus was also associated with the emerald. This gem could well be phi - because these sites are phi sq. X r from the model's Raggedstone centre (whilst also dividing the pentagram chords in the phi/Golden Mean proportion).  A pentagram star cuts its (63 mile) radii in the ratio phi to phi squared. A decagram star (derived from a decagon) can comprise 2 of these pentagram stars, one Lady and one Goat. One on top of the other. 10 precious gems in all. To mention 3: on the Glastonbury axis, one (Goat) falls on Shenstone and the other (Lady) by Berkeley. Now the Berkeley Hunt is Cockney rhyming slang. "Berkeley" stems from birch tree associated with birth - as is the emerald. "Shen" sounds like shining and means beautiful:
https://library.acropolis.org/the-symbolism-of-the-emerald/

The Berkeley site is by a nuclear power station near the River Severn and just across from Lydney (of Roman temple fame/dedicated to Nodens). Our "Holey" Hampnett, a third phi sq. site, meanwhile, is on the Stonehenge-Raggedstone radius.

The Extended Pentagram (again) and Baphomet (Levi's Goat of Mendes)

On the right we see Eliphas Levi's "take" on Templar-associated Baphomet, which, apparently, is "Wisdom" (Sophia) in Atbash Cipher.  But there are (many) other interpretations.  This time there's a regular pentagon, and, like the left, a torch burning between the horns.  Other portrayals sometimes have a regular hexagram instead of the pentagrams.  Note the "As above, so below" imagery here, exactly as on the Rider-Waite Tarot XV, and as evidenced in Shakespeare's King Lear with the king's madness and accompanying storm.  Also note 1/XV is 0.06666r

The first is from Robert E. Howard and the second: https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Baphomet_(folklore)

How to construct the CPC diagram (if you so wish):  draw a circle on a piece of paper (or just follow the diagram above).  This will be our "Circle of the Perpetual Choirs of Britain" (centred A, by Whiteleaved Oak, Raggedstone Hill).  Next, draw a circle of the same size with a centre on the circumference of the first circle (centre B).  Join where the 2 circles cut each other (an area known as a vesica piscis) and you have a hexagram chord/equilateral side (C-D - blue).  Through where you first put your compass point (circle centre A) draw a line parallel to the hexagram chord (E-F).  That's the diameter of the first circle.  Connect A-B, thus cutting the hexagram chord in half (at G).  Now, draw a line from F  through the G and on to the circumference of the first circle (F-G-H - green).  Connect H-B - red.  That's a decagon side.  Lastly, take your compass and draw a circle centred on B using the decagon side H-B as the radius.  That last (phi r value) circle at I.  Join H-I.  That's a pentagon side (the thicker orange line).  So you have constructed the basis for euilateral (CD), pentagon (HI), hexagon (CD again) and decagon(HB) - and their "stars": pentagram, hexagram and decagram. But we've also got the Extended Pentagram (pink) and the "Star Union" (of extended pentagram and hexagram) via the hexagram chord C-D.  Firstly, the Extended Pentagram: the phi r circle centred B identifies three key points (J, K and L, with J being an on an extension of A-B).  The ends of the hexagram C-D chord provide two more.  Join J to K and on to find M and join M to D,  Likewise, draw a line from J to L and on to N.  Join N to C.  Et voila, the Extended Pentagram/"Isis" (as David Wood christened her).  All her corners are 36 degrees.  Next, develop the hexagon/hexagram corners using the same (hence "Union") ends of the C-D hexagram chord.  Now you have the 2 hexagon sides A-C and A-D already (if you draw them in) + the equilateral C-D-"Point St. John" (near) intersect.  Compasses "find" the other two (and the Star Union).
